The Yangang Tourism Development Committee (YTDC) convened the first preparatory meeting for the International Youth Conclave on Tourism Development, slated for April 12–14, 2025, at the Sikkim Legislative Assembly Secretariat. The meeting was chaired by Hon’ble Deputy Speaker Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa and attended by key government officials and stakeholders.
Notable attendees included Political Secretary to CM Bikash Basnet, OSD Karma Subba, Ex-Zilla Adhyaksha CL Gurung, SBS MD Phurba Wangdi Bhutia, Principal Directors Sonam Denzongpa and BB Izam, alongside officers representing Rangang-Yangang.
The conclave marks a milestone, celebrating 50 Years of Sikkim’s Statehood, and will spotlight the evolution, challenges, and future of Sikkim’s tourism landscape. YTDC aims to use this platform to promote lesser-known destinations like Yangang, boost youth-led tourism entrepreneurship, and drive community-based development.
Smt. Thapa emphasized the need for collective ownership of the event and highlighted its potential to position Yangang as a rising tourism hub. Discussions covered event planning, cultural showcases, adventure tourism, and strategic outreach to ensure a seamless, impactful conclave.
A key decision was to formally invite Hon’ble CM Shri P.S. Golay to grace the event. The conclave will host 250 delegates from across India’s 28 states, 3 UTs, and 10 countries, making it a truly global platform.
Organized by YTDC with state support, this event aligns with the vision of “Sunaulo, Samriddha, ani Samartha Sikkim” and reaffirms our commitment to sustainable tourism and regional prosperity.
