The final day of the International Youth Conclave for Tourism Development at Yangang witnessed vibrant participation, impactful discussions, and rich cultural exchange. Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest was Hon’ble Education Minister Shri Raju Basnet, joined by a distinguished lineup of leaders including SLA Deputy Speaker Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, Advisors Shri Satish C. Rai and Shri Tenzing N. Lamtha, and Political Secretary to HCM, Shri Bikash Basnet, among others. Delegates from 17 states, 4 UTs, and 3 countries, alongside students, SHGs, NGOs, and government officials, added to the grandeur.
Shri Bikash Basnet, Chief Coordinator of the event, hailed the conclave as a landmark initiative to boost Yangang’s tourism prospects through knowledge sharing and collective will. Hon’ble Minister Shri Raju Basnet lauded the ongoing transformation of Yangang under the leadership of HCM Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), citing milestones like the operationalization of Sikkim University’s campus and the Bhaleydhunga Skywalk.
Deputy Speaker Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa highlighted the conclave’s alignment with Sikkim’s 50th Statehood anniversary, acknowledging the contributions of local entrepreneurs, artisans, and youth. She emphasized key sessions on mental health, education, and tourism entrepreneurship.
A token of appreciation was extended to all departments for their seamless coordination. The event wrapped up with a spectacular Cultural Exchange Program featuring traditional performances, cuisine, handicrafts, and B2B interactions.
Inaugurated on April 12 by HCM Shri Prem Singh Tamang, and supported by SBS, the Tourism Department, and Sikkim Inspires, the conclave set a high benchmark for youth-driven, future-focused tourism development in Sikkim.
